Bring your rentals in from a spreadsheet, and get a full copy back out

Most landlords start with a spreadsheet. Upload yours, see which rows are ready and which need fixing, then import. If something looks wrong afterward, there is an undo for 24 hours. Use it only on an import that added new records, not one that matched or updated records already in your account. When you want your records back out, export them as CSV or JSON, or get the whole portfolio in one ZIP file. Exports, presets, and the full archive are on the Growth plan and up.

Import in the order your rentals are built

Properties go in first, then units, then tenants, then leases, because each one points at the one before it. Upload a CSV or Excel file for each. Before any record is created, you get a preview: how many rows will import, which rows have errors, and what each error is. Fix the file and preview it again, or import the good rows, download the error report, and upload only the rows you fixed. A properties file uploaded a second time adds those properties again.

  • CSV or Excel (.xlsx) files, one upload per record type
  • A blank template with the right column headers for each type
  • A preview of every row before any record is created
  • A 24-hour undo for an import that only added new records

Take a full copy of your records out

Download properties, units, tenants, or leases one type at a time as CSV or JSON. Ask for the whole portfolio and LeaseRooster builds a ZIP file with one CSV per record type, then email you a link to download it. Save the exports you run often as a preset and set it to run daily, weekly, or monthly. Exports are on the Growth plan and up.

  • One record type at a time, as CSV or JSON
  • The whole portfolio in one ZIP file, sent to you as a download link
  • Saved exports that run daily, weekly, or monthly
  • A Schedule E CSV for tax time, from Books

What import and export cover

Import is on every plan. Exports, the full archive, and saved presets come with the Growth plan and up. If you would rather pull data yourself, the API and webhooks are on the Integrations page.

Spreadsheet import

CSV or Excel (.xlsx) files for properties, units, tenants, and leases. Tenants are matched by email, so the same person is not added twice. Properties are not matched by name, so after a partial import, upload only the rows you fixed.

Preview before saving

Every row is checked first. You see how many rows will import, which ones have errors, and why. No records are created until you click import.

Undo for 24 hours

Your import history has an undo for 24 hours after each import. Use it only on an import that added new records, not one that matched or updated records already in your account.

Export by record type

Download properties, units, tenants, or leases as CSV or JSON on the Growth plan and up.

Full archive and saved exports

Get every record in one ZIP file by email link. Save an export as a preset and run it daily, weekly, or monthly.

What the importer will not take

Leave Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and protected-class details such as race or religion out of your file. If the tenant importer finds a column like ssn, dob, or race, every row is marked with an error and nothing imports. Vendors and payment history do not import either. You add those in the app.

Download an import-ready template, fill it in, upload it

The import screen gives you a blank template for each record type with the column headers it expects. Start with properties, then units, tenants, and leases. Free for your first 3 units.
